Today we are going back to basics and talking about the Middle Way, or Middle Path. This is an essential and core teaching of the Buddha. In the canon of the Buddha’s teachings, the MIddle Way is one of the first things about which the Buddha teaches, and many of his other teachings build off this principle.

The Middle Way, or Majjhima-Patipada in Pali, is the teaching that we are to avoid over-indulgence and sensual lust in our path to awakening. The Buddha taught the middle way in relation to many of his core teachings, including the Noble Eightfold Path, dependent origination, and the Two Truths.

In this talk, Matthew breaks down what the Buddha taught about the Middle Path and how we can begin to build insight and practice with this teaching.
